Soffits, Fascias and Guttering: Why Do Them With Your Render?

If your render is going on, the roofline is often the next thing to look at. Doing both at once means one scaffold, one set of disruption and a neater finish where the render meets the roof edge.
Why combine the jobs
One scaffold. Scaffolding is one of the biggest costs on a render job. Using the same scaffold for the roofline can save paying for access twice.
A cleaner finish. Render meets the underside of the soffit and the face of the fascia. Replacing or repairing them first, or at the same time, avoids messy joins.
Fewer leaks. Leaking gutters and overflowing joints stain and damage render, and are among the most common causes of green marks on walls.
Less disruption. Everything is done in one visit.
What the roofline includes

Fascias. The boards fixed to the ends of the rafters, carrying the gutters.
Soffits. The boards under the roof overhang, which close the gap and carry ventilation.
Capping boards. Cover existing timber boards with a low-maintenance finish.
Guttering and downpipes. Taking water away from the wall.
Trims, joint trims and ventilators. The small parts that finish edges and keep the roof space ventilated.
Materials
UPVC fascias, soffits and capping boards are popular because they don't need painting. We can supply fascias, soffit, capping boards, finishing trims, joint trims, ventilators and fixings.
What to check first
If timber behind the boards is rotten, it needs repairing, and gutters should be falling correctly towards the downpipes. We'll inspect the roofline when we survey the walls.
